Hikes, Mansions and Beaches

WOW! Weekends always fly. Friday night we considered driving to Las Vegas. Then decided we were getting a late start and would most likely not arrive until 3 am. So we decided to stay home and enjoy the local options.

Saturday morning, I enjoyed coffee, read the paper and on the front cover was an article stating that the bank that owns our home was seized by the Government. It said that this was the second largest bank failure. I am not exactly sure what this means to us. Most likely, our loan will be bought by someone else and eventually have to make our payments out to another company. Crazy times we are living in, eh?

After some more coffee, I decided to work my fitness and did the usual hike Runyon.

Inspiration?

Hike it!
(not alwayus easy hauling this 43 year old piece of grizzle up that hill.) lol

After Runyon, I headed into Beverly Hills and went to Greystone Mansion, the old Doheny Mansion.

Greystone Mansion also known as the Doheny Mansion is a Tudor-style house in Beverly Hills, California, designed by Gordon Kaufmann and completed in 1928. The house was a gift from oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny to his son, Edward "Ned" Doheny Jr. and his family. Beverly Hills purchased the estate in 1965, in 1971 it became a city park, and in 1976 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The house and grounds are often used in film and television. The house's descending staircase is one of the most famous sets in Hollywood.

After taking some photos and enjoying the grounds before heading home. One thing I noticed, other than the amazing beauty of this place and its grounds, was this personalized license plate. Just what is that supposed to mean? Lol

Sunday was an easy day also, we decided to head to the gay beach near Pacific Palisades. Lots of cute guys hanging out and having a laugh in the sun.

We are still on the South Beach diet and it is going well. So far we have lost some weight, yeah. Hope we continue. How was your weekend? Good I hope, do tell.

OH MAN! I'd hike all day following
those two butts :)

Those are some pretty pics of that
mansion. I've never been big on
houses with more square footage
than I've got stuff to put in it.

TURTLE!! I have a turtle chlorine
float in the pool his name is
'Turt Earl'. (yeah, the me thing)

The beach! I so wanted to spend
all my time there when I was in
NY. At least I got to be on it
for the works on the 4th.

HUGS!!!!!

The gay beach called "Will Rogers" if your straight, but "Ginger Rogers" for the gays.

Did you know that the Doheny Mansion was the setting for the entire country of Moldavia on Dynasty?

I'm going to take a shot at the vanity plate: I MAKE YOU DRY ?!?!? Or maybe it's some kind of Lambo jargon.

Great pictures!

Excellent pics! The mansion caught my attention for sure. Reminded me of Filoli...the estate where "Dynasty" was filmed?... Then I see 'JIM's' comment regarding the Moldavia episodes and it clicked in...

FYI: Good luck with South Beach. By day four I would have sold my left nut for something sweet. BUT IT WORKS! In two weeks with no carbs/no sugar I lost nine pounds! But I was cranky.

iriYou make me home sick, Dit! I use to take the dog to Runyon all the time.

I use to know the guy who was the original interior designer for Greystone. I guess the story goes that Doheny committed suicide in the house, becuase his wife found out he was having an affair with his secretary, who happened to be male. SO many sordid stories in the City of Angles.

Great pictures, especially of Greystone. I should talk my boyfriend into taking a drive up there. As for the vanity plate, I agree with faux pas blog; I immediately read " I make you dry". The mind wanders....

Faux Pas, I think you are right. I read it as "I Milk you dry" which means something else . ..lol never mind.

Michael Guy, Thank you for the compliments. Yes, South beach seems to be working. My better half has lost more than I have so far . But still givin it a go.

Tim, Really? How cool. Lots of dogs and the occational celeb sighting at Runyon. Interesting stuff about Greystone.

greg, You should, it is a really nice place to go and take a picnic. Might also be a great place to get married. Hmm, now there is an idea.

bridgeout, thank you for the compliments. I too enjoy taking photos. It is calming to me.
