Poppies, my pretty . . . . poppies

I hope this finds all of you in good spirits and enjoying this day. This past weekend my better half and I visited the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve in Lancaster, California. This year the poppies are much more dramatic due to the amount of rain we have had.

Enjoy the images, although they do not really do the reserve justice. It was very windy at the time we arrived. The website suggests going early in the morning to avoid the wind. Which we just may do.

On our way out of the reserve we noticed this heard of sheep. They were all just hanging out and eating.

After leaving the sheep, we decided to drive out along Pear Blossom Highway into the high desert. I have always loved Joshua trees.

After driving a little further we noticed these amazing rock formations. They are part of the Mormon Rocks near the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino.

Sunday, I woke up and headed to Runyon Canyon for my weekend hike. The weather was cool and not too hot.

If you have ever spent much time in California, you know that this time of year the air smells extra sweet as the Jasmine is starting to bloom. It is so fragrant it just fills the air.

On my way back to the car I noticed this remnant of something someone once loved.

Sunday afternoon, a friend came over and we rode bicycles to the beach. It was very windy that day too.

Hope your weekend was an amazing adventure too, whatever you might find that to be. Best wishes.

Those are some purty flowers.
Rattlesnakes...man, that brings
back memories of growing up. Ya
had to be careful when running out
into the fields.

Joshua trees! I love the name
Joshua! Can you guess why? Yep,
that's the boys name. Joshua David.

The couches look like something
you'd see around here. I'll have
to take a picture of this one
house that is a couple of streets
away from mine. You'd wonder what
kind of mental problems these
people have.

Glad y'all had a great weekend!
Here's wishing you an even better
week.

HUGS!!

i like your routine on the weekend. IT must be really refreshing. I think peace of mind does come from the energy from your surroundings. I should try it sometimes too.

It's interesting how the angle of which photos of the poppies are taken that it is almost an orange blanket that covers the terrain. Great colors with the other photos as well.
