Hikes, Rallies, and well . . . Dinner

This past weekend was very busy. Saturday morning, I went to hike. It was exceptionally clear and it seemed as if you could see forever.

Saturday evening, we piled some friends into the car and we attended the rally against Proposition 8 in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. It is estimated that 12,500 people attended this rally/ march. As we were walking, we noticed that Wanda Sykes was marching along with us. It is also rumored that James Franco and a few other celebrities were there marching and showing support.

The amount of people was amazing. Not only were there gay people, but everyone was represented. There were many people with clever signs. I am in a way, put off by the signs that point at various groups. In my opinion, that is doing the same thing that was done, simply in reverse. We have decided that our signs will not mention any specific groups, more mention equality. It was a great feeling to be there and be part of such a big crowd and movement. I am not sure if these rallies and marches will have any effect. One thing is certain, we feel better after attending them.

I mentioned while we were marching that it felt like the 1960's. A man in front of me turned around and told me that he was at marches in the 1960's. He pointed to some shop windows and said, if this were the 1960's those windows would be broken. Our march was a peaceful one. No incidents were reported.

This issue seems to be getting much support. Even California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said that he believes Proposition 8 will be overturned by the California Supreme Court. Which, if you think about it, already has.

After the rally, we went to Luna Park restaurant. Had a drink and some dinner. Yummy!

Sunday, we hung out, ran errands and had a friend over. I hope your weekend was good too.

The supreme court, indeed, already overturned it, so what are these Christheads thinking!?
