Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day

I hope everyone, well . . . at least the few that look at this blog, have had a wonderful weekend and are doing something fun today.

This past weekend in Los Angeles was pretty warm. Saturday, I was driving the convertible after a hike and the temperature gauge read 84 degrees.

Sunday, some friends joined us and we went to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) to see the Hearst Collection.

Here is a paragraph about the exhibit from the LACMA site.

Hearst the Collector

William Randolph Hearst (1860–1951) was one of the most influential forces in the history of American journalism. Mercilessly caricatured in Citizen Kane, Hearst in reality was a populist multimillionaire who crusaded against political corruption. He fostered simultaneous excellence and sensationalism in reporting, transformed the graphic design of newspapers, and was in the vanguard of the development of newsreels. Hearst also became a conspicuous movie producer, a voracious collector, and an outstanding benefactor of the early Los Angeles County Museum. want to read more?

We also went into the new wing that holds more Modern and POP art. We saw art by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and many others.

We also enjoyed the Vanity Fair Portraits exhibit.

The Vanity Fair exhibit was very interesting. I had no idea that Vanity Fair and Vogue had merged and that the Vanity Fair we know did not exist until the early 1980's.

The grounds of LACMA are actually quite nice.

After we went to dinner and continued our evening.

So . . . what did you do? I know most of the nation was pretty cold over this weekend. We were glad to have warmth, come visit Los Angeles in January sometime. Its a pretty exciting weekend in Washington D.C. Yes folks, it is the end of an Error. Ha!

Take care, stay well and smile.

I actually flew in and out of LAX and SNA a few times over the last week...and boy was it nice weather! We're gearing up for our 25-person Inaugural Party tomorrow.

I enjoyed the warm weather - went on a couple of long walks along the beach! It's been awhile since I've been to LACMA - I need to put that back on my to do list.

Great photos as always giving us nice montage of the weekend you had. Any chance that you could spare 15 of those 84 degrees for Chicagoland? ;-)
